The Vortex Pinnacle Dungeon Guide (2024)

The Vortex Pinnacle is an airborne citadel located high above Uldum in theclouds, where players navigate through swirling winds and dangerous platforms todeal with the deadly elemental threats found within.

The Vortex Pinnacle is located on the far Southern side of Uldum, on afloating platform in the middle of the air.

Here we will give you a full rundown of what you can expect from each of thebosses found here on both Normal and Heroic difficulties as well as the itemsthey drop.

• Cyclone Shield
• Storm's Edge
• Lightning Bolt
• Summon Tempest
• Lurking Tempest

Grand Vizier Ertan starts the fight by casting Cyclone Shield, creating 8 cyclones around her that spread outaround the room. She can then recall these cyclones, pulling them in aroundherself, damaging any nearby enemies and reducing their movement, attack, andcast speed. Grand Vizier Ertan will also periodically summon aLurking Tempest to aid her in combat; these can be ignored by simplyfacing your character towards them as they will always "play dead" ifsomebody is looking at them.

As soon as Altairus is engaged he will cover the platform with Twisting Winds, damaging and knocking up any players that touchthem. He will target random players with Chilling Breath, dealinghigh Frost damage to the target and any nearby allies; be spread out for this.The main ability Altairus will use is Call the Wind,changing the direction from which the wind blows. Depending on which directionthe new wind blows, and the relevant position of both the player andAltairus, you will get a buff or debuff. If the new winds blows overthe player before reaching Altairus, they will get Upwind of Altairus; however if the wins blow over Altairusbefore the player, they will get debuffed with Downwind of Altairus.

Asaad will periodically summon a Skyfall Star to aidhim in the fight; this Skyfall Star will cast back-to-back Arcane Barrage on random players, dealing high DPS. Simply haveyour ranged DPS kill these stars quickly to prevent them from overwhelming yourhealer. Asaad will also cast Static Cling, rooting allplayers touching the ground in place for 18 seconds; to avoid this root,you must jump right before the Static Cling cast ends.A few times during the fight, Asaad will cast Unstable Grounding Field, drawing a triangle on the ground. Afterthe triangle is completed he will cast Supremacy of the Storm,killing anyone that is not inside the safety of the triangle. It is veryimportant that you jump to avoid the root from Static Cling andmake it to the inside of the triangle to avoid dying to Supremacy of the Storm.

Starting in Cataclysm, dungeon quests are found directly inside the dungeonand have no quest chains required. This means you can simply queue up for thedungeon and grab all of the available quests inside without needing to completelong-winded, complicated quest chains!
